
Kristen Kish is a chef, author, and television personality who is best known for winning Season 10 of Top Chef. She is also the first woman of color to win the show. Kish was born in South Korea and adopted by a family in Michigan at the age of 3. She developed an early love of cooking, and after graduating from high school, she attended Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago.
After graduating from culinary school, Kish worked at several high-profile restaurants in Boston, including Per Se and The Modern. In 2012, she was a contestant on Top Chef. She quickly became a fan favorite, and she won the season after winning five consecutive challenges in Last Chance Kitchen.
After Top Chef, Kish opened her own restaurant, Kin Khao, in Boston. The restaurant was a critical and commercial success, and it was named one of the best new restaurants in America by Bon Appétit. In 2018, Kish closed Kin Khao and moved to Austin, Texas, where she opened Arlo Grey. Arlo Grey is a restaurant that specializes in Kish's signature blend of playful and refined cuisine.
In addition to her work as a chef, Kish has also appeared on several television shows, including The Today Show, The Chew, and The Martha Stewart Show. She is also the author of two cookbooks, Kristen Kish Cooking: Recipes and Techniques and * Kristen Kish: At Home*.
In July 2023, Kish was announced as the new host of Top Chef. She will replace Padma Lakshmi, who hosted the show for 17 seasons. Kish is the first former contestant to host Top Chef, and she is excited to bring her own unique perspective to the show.
